A new survey has found that higher productivity and better compliance are two of the most important factors for companies considering identity and access management solutions.

Forming the basis of the survey published in March is an online-poll of over 120 companies from various branches of industry. The survey asked how identity and access management solutions were adopted, deployed and accepted by companies.

Beta Systems Software AG, a software provider, was one of the companies that supported the research carried out by the Aberdeen Group.

83% of respondents said that compliance with policies and regulations is important for their company. The report emphasizes that companies that fail to de-provision in a timely manner increase their window of vulnerability.

Carol Baroudi, a senior research analyst in the security practice at Aberdeen, commented: “Without identity and access management, organizations are at risk. The more users, the greater the number of systems and resources, the bigger the opportunity to improve user productivity and reduce risk through the automating of user access provisioning and de-provisioning. Without clear policies and procedures and ways of enforcing them, companies will not be able to prove compliance. Identity and access management is an important first step.”
