Shaun Hooper has been named permanent chief executive of Lloyd's and London market broker Cooper Gay & Co.

He has served as the brokers interim chief executive since December 2010. He was drafted into the role after Jim Summers, Cooper Gay & Co's previous chief executive, left the company to join reinsurance broker Guy Carpenter last November.

Cooper Gay & Co is the Lloyd's and London market operation of broking group Cooper Gay Swett & Crawford (CGSC). Hooper first joined CGSC in July 2009 as head of group operations. He was previously chief operating officer of AXA-owned brokerage Bluefin Insurance Services.

"This is a key appointment and Shaun has demonstrated his ability to drive the business during his time as Interim CEO," said Cooper Gay Swett & Crawford group CEO Toby Esser in a statement. "CGSC is at a key stage in its development and our continued growth requires a strong and dynamic London presence which I am confident Shaun will deliver with the support of his senior management team."

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
