Ian Barnes to join to terrorism and political risks team

Cooper Gay has appointed Ian Barnes to its terrorism and political risks team.

Reporting to Richard Mahoney, managing director, Non-Marine, Barnes has insurance experience spanning more than 25 years, working with trading companies, banks and multinational corporates on both a retail and wholesale basis.

Most recently, Barnes was a divisional director at Lockton, where he spent 13 years broking political risks and trade credit risk. He will be based in Cooper Gay’s London office.

Richard Mahoney said: “Terrorism and Political Risks continue to present a real concern to multinational companies and we are extremely pleased that Ian has chosen to join Cooper Gay adding his considerable expertise in this area to our growing team.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
