Loss adjuster partners Halifax in home and travel fraud investigations

Crawford & Co is to run a six-month fraud investigation pilot with Halifax General Insurance on its home and travel claims.

The renewable contract will partner Crawford's Counter Fraud Solutions Division with the Halifax's Special Investigations team on claims in both the field and office.

Halifax General Insurance technical claims manager David Berry said: "Crawford's winning formula was a combination of a proactive approach to fraud detection and a focus to deliver the service that HBOS desires for customers."

In separate developments, Crawford has strengthened both its UK global risk team and its agricultural department with the recruitment of three senior personnel.

Paul Bermingham joins Crawford from CMGL as director of Global Risk Administration, working on claim and risk management for large self-insured corporations and multinational insurers.

He will head up the team responsible for strategic planning, product development, programme design and implementation of client accounts.

Crawford's agricultural team has been boosted by David Waite and Steve Law from David Waite & Associates.

David Waite will join Crawford's agricultural, rural industries and estates team (ARIEL) as technical manager.

Crawford UK chief executive Ian Muress said: "We are delighted that such highly experienced specialists have joined our team. They will have a key role in the continuing development of our ARIEL service.

"At Crawford we believe this industry sector is unique in its needs and requires a team that has credibility, experience and knowledge of farming practice."
