Crawford-THG and McLarens Toplis have been retained by Legal & General as loss adjusters on the insurer's 30,000 annual personal lines claims.

The two firms were the survivors of an assessment process that saw Cunningham Ellis & Buckle lose its Legal & General contract.

A Legal & General spokesman commented: "These periodic assessments are all about getting the best deal for our customers, and that changes over time."

Crawford-THG's UK managing director George Moss believes its continued role with Legal & General indicates its increased commitment to the personal lines market.

"This is an endorsement of the way in which we have changed our business to deal as effectively with personal lines claims as we always have with major commercial claims."

The new contract begins on October 1 and runs until the end of the year 2000.
