Crawford Belgium has won a contract to handle the run-off claims portfolio of OHRA Belgium.

The personal lines insurer ceased writing business in May 2003.

Under the deal, Crawford takes over about 11,000 outstanding and new claims from July 1 2004. It said a comprehensive service level agreement had been signed.

OHRA Belgium will retain financial responsibility for the claims.

Crawford said it had provided assistance on the account for several months.

Crawford regional managing director for continental Europe, Middle East and Africa, Mark Harman, said: “This is an important contract, demonstrating how we are able to provide a wide range of value added claims solutions to European insurers.

“I am sure we will see more of these outsourcing arrangements for insurers with run-off portfolios.”
