Underwriters will be able to check claims histories for household and motor customers using a new pan-industry database.
CACHE Motor & Home from CRIF Decision Solutions launches on 1 January 2004.
CRIF said it would provide choice for IDS (Insurance Database Services) members using claims and underwriting exchange (CUE) systems.
CRIF already supplies a CUE-based personal injury claims data programme, CACHE Personal Injuries.
Insurers signing up to the service will be able to access the CRIF database to load claims data, check an individual's claims history and identify potential fraud, said the company.
The database will be loaded with member insurer's claims files, providing a cross-company search facility.
Cross database searches for relevant information from both the motor and home databases, and it will be possible to search the personal injuries database.
