Crowe Livestock Underwriting has teamed up with Powell Insurance Brokers to launch a mortality, property, liability and business interruption policy for the UK poultry farm sector.

Catlin Underwriting at Lloyd's will underwrite the policy, called Poultry Elite.

Crowe Livestock said emphasis would be placed on risk management and the quality of each farm's management teams. Sites will be inspected before a risk is accepted, it added.

Crowe Livestock has written mortality cover since the company launched in 1996. The new product is its first insurance product to also cover property, liability and business interruption cover in addition to mortality, it said.

Managing director Emma Stamper said: “The poultry industry in the UK is considered to be among the most professional producers in the world, adhering to the tightest of farming standards.

“It is for this reason that we developed Poultry Elite to provide farmers and producers with a unique insurance solution, combining all risks of mortality, including disease, together with property, liability and business interruption.

“We are delighted that after considerable developmental work we are now in a position to provide this cover to the UK poultry sector.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
