The Claims Standards Council (CSC) management will be replaced across the board as it attempts to build its reputation as a trade association.

In a letter to CSC members chief executive Tony Burns-Howell said: "We intend to step to one side and allow the industry to run the CSC."

The current management, which includes Sir Phillip Otton, Marlene Winfield, Fraser Whitehead,

Andy Wigmore and Chris Sheppard, will remain independent advisors to the CSC.

Members are being asked to submit applications for membership of the CSC executive with immediate effect. The new management is expected to be finalised by September.
