D J Freeman has acted for SOC Insurance Fund (SOCIF), a new company specially created to offer investors an opportunity to participate in the Lloyd's insurance market for the 2003, 2004 and 2005 underwriting years of account.
SOCIF has announced plans to raise up to £252m from equity investors and bondholders to support underwriting over the next few years.
The amount raised will be leveraged by the proceeds of an anticipated bond issue to raise a further £178.6m.
Leveraging of this nature is believed to be the first of its kind in the Lloyd's market.
Corporate partner Ashwani Kochhar, said: "We are delighted to have been involved in this innovative form of corporate participation in the Lloyd's market.
