East Asian society is becoming increasingly litigious, according to a report commissioned by Lloyd's.

The report, which is also sponsored by Trade Partners UK, surveyed over 260 senior executives and found that the demand for liability insurance is increasing.

Liability costs were identified as the biggest growth for insurers, with key products including professional indemnity, directors' and officers', errors and omissions, medical malpractice, workers' compensation, personal and product liability.

Lloyd's director of world markets Julian James said that the new products for the Asian region will offer "underwriting opportunities and new market niches but also a change in the pattern of related claims with implications on premium rates".
