Ecclesiastical Insurance has signed a contract with risk data specialists, Intermediary Systems Ltd (ISL).

Ecclesiastical is one of the first UK insurers to adopt the technology, which provides high resolution risk models.

ISL's technology is designed to help insurers better understand risks as they are underwritten. It allows Ecclesiastical to map perils such as storms and flood subsidence to full postcode unit level.

Chris Lees, chief underwriting manager at Ecclesiastical and head of the new project, said: "We have tested the latest product offering from ISL and believe it to be the best available. This will ensure we associate appropriate premiums with the risks as we underwrite them."
