?Insurance Times editor Tom Broughton finally unveiled his starting team for the QBE sponsored fantasy football tournament which kicked off this weekend.

Broughton’s team, known as the Editor’s XI, didn’t quite perform as he expected and is currently ranked in a lowly 1,250th spot in the overall league table, a dismal showing by anyone’s standards.

Broughton, who has West Ham’s Mark Noble at the heart of his midfield and former West Ham starlet

Rio Ferdinand in the heart of his defence, said he was let down by Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez’s refusal to pick his star striker Torres who was spearheading Liverpool’s attack.

Broughton moaned that the tournament was not a sprint but a marathon…and that he would be quickly rising through the rankings over the coming weeks.

He said: “A key West Ham player forms the nucleus of my team, so expect big things from my outfit in this fantastic tournament.”
