The New York attorney general Eliot Spitzer has announced the indictment of eight former Marsh executives for their involvement in bid rigging.

It is claimed the former executives helped to defraud clients of millions of dollars.

They are accused of colluding with top insurance companies to arrange non-competitive bids and portraying the bids to clients under false pretences.

The indictment charges that from November 1998 to September 2004 the defendants colluded with AIG, Zurich American Insurance, ACE USA, Liberty International Insurance, and other US insurance companies to rig the market for excess casualty insurance.
