Hazelvine won the first Insurance Endurance pro-kart challenge at the Daytona International circuit last Friday. Just like Le Mans, the race is undertaken by a team of drivers who change over at regular intervals. Unlike Le Mans, Insurance Endurance, which was run in association with Insurance Times, runs for eight hours rather than 24. Accident Support and Towergate claimed the podium positions in the 21-team field.

In a separate side competition, Pit Stop Challenge, the teams changed the tyres on a Formula One racing car as the karts, which have a top speed of 75mph, came into the pits. The challenge was won by DRL Diamonds.
