Biba plans to meet with government to discuss 'signposting'
The prospect of a compromise on equality legislation moved closer this week after Biba representatives attended a forum on the new Equalities Bill.
Parliamentary secretary Michael Foster indicated at the forum that insurers might be able to refuse cover on age grounds, as long as they gave customers information on where else to obtain it.
Biba supported this “signposting”, and said it would now write to the minister to reinforce its points and seek a meeting.
The consultation on the bill closes at the end of this month. For more information on this and other lobbying issues, visit www.biba.org.uk.
Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
