Equity Insurance Group has acquired the Lurgan branch of County Armagh broker, Dawson Whyte Ltd.
Dawson Whyte's Lurgan branch has been trading since 1992 and was owned and managed by Gordon Hamill. Equity said all existing employees will continue servicing some 2,300 personal and commercial clients from its town centre office which will be re-branded to Equity Insurance Brokers.
Equity's managing director of branch broking Mike Hutton said: "The opportunity met the group's regional acquisition criteria. It's a well established, strategically located broking business in an area earmarked for further expansion."
