Emergency crews have been called to an explosion at a plastics company in Glasgow.

A number of people are feared dead as the explosion reduced the building to rubble. It is also thought that several people are trapped in the building.

According to a report, about 60 people are thought to have been injured at the explosion at Stockline Plastics in Grovepark Street.

A spokeswoman for Strathclyde Police confirmed they had been called to deal with the explosion, which occurred around midday. She said there had been “considerable damage to the property”.

Casualties have been treated in the surrounding streets with the most seriously injured taken away on stretchers by paramedics, said the report.

Around 100 people are believed to work in the plastics factory.
