Pick a Red Card is up for the big one

Ted Kirk is the QBE Manager of the Month for February after collecting an impressive 78 points.

In a month dominated by cup competitions, his team, Pick a Red Card, was the clear winner from the chasing pack.

Ted, underwriting manager at Ipswich-based Compucar Insurance, said his eleventh hour transfers made the difference.

“I was fairly surprised that I was top with just one weekend to go,” he said. “I still had five transfers left and three of my players were tied up in the Carling Cup Final, so I transferred them.”

After removing Pascal Chimbonda, Ashley Cole and Dimitar Berbatov from his starting 11, he replaced them with Glen Johnson and Herman Hreidarsson, who both kept clean sheets at the back, and Fernando Torres, who hit a hat trick against Middlesbrough.

He also singled out Everton defender Jolean Lescott. “In the very last game of the month he scored and kept a clean sheet, so that probably won it for me,” he said.

Ted, an Ipswich Town season ticket holder, says he has an unbiased view of the Premier League.

He remains optimistic that his team will gain promotion to the Premier League this season but is unsure if he would select Ipswich players in his next fantasy team. “I think they might lose me points,” he joked.
