International rating agency Fitch has affirmed its BBB long-term and F3 short-term ratings on Sterling Insurance Group.
It has also affirmed the BBB Insurer Financial Strength (IFS) ratings of its two subsidiary underwriting companies, Sterling Insurance Company and Sterling Life.
Fitch said the rating outlook was positive.
It added the group's rating levels reflected its improving profitability and that it was on target to attain critical mass and become an established player in its chosen spheres of business over the medium term.
However, it said those strengths were offset by concerns about Sterling's limited size, the diversity of its income sources and the competitive nature of the sectors in which it operated.
