ALARM has elected Dave Fleetwood as its new chairman following the resignation of Ian Horwood last month.
Fleetwood is head of procurement and risk management at Sunderland City Council. He joined ALARM in 1993, served as its chairman from 1998 - 2000 and then as its Treasurer until this week.
He will remain chairman until the association's AGM in July when the chairman's position will be reconsidered.
His election was decided at a meeting of the ALARM Council in London yesterday.
Fleetwood said: "The area of risk management is a rapidly expanding field and ALARM's role is becoming increasingly important to the public sector. The chance to take over as ALARM chairman again is an unexpected honour."
