The Folgate Partnership has snapped up yet another broker. Broadstone Insurance Services (General) Ltd is the consolidator's 30th acquisition.

Broadstone, one of the largest brokers in Dorset, controls more than £5m of primarily commercial premium.

The portfolio includes a significant delegated authority personal accident / public liability scheme for adult and junior football teams.

Directors John McComish and Glenn Tilley will continue to lead the current staff of 17. The business will move premises to the Folgate Partnership's existing offices in Poole.

Folgate chief executive Andy Homer said: "We are delighted to have acquired a quality broker in the Dorset area. The Folgate Partnership is in advanced stages of negotiation with a number of other brokers, and Broadstone will provide us with a nucleus for further acquisitions in the area. This acquisition keeps us well on track to be the UK's largest independent intermediary by 2005."

McComish added: "This is fantastic news for Broadstone and all its staff. There are a number of challenges ahead, not least preparing ourselves to accept a number of other businesses into the fold, but we are feeling positive and excited at the prospect of working together."
