The Folgate Partnership has signed a deal which will see its brokers become risk management specialists.

Chief executive Andy Homer said the deal, with risk consultants Risk Analysis Services (RAS), will see between 75 and 100 Folgate account executives trained to give risk management advice to clients.

"We see risk management as a core part of our value proposition to clients," Homer said. "It's too important to outsource."

Folgate will charge its clients a fee for the service, which assesses IT, trading and financial risks as well as those related to the client's insurance programme.

Homer said that Folgate was currently using RAS' standard laptop-based risk analysis tool, but in future RAS would develop a tool specifically tailored for Folgate.

He said the company might also offer the risk management training to its network members, giving it a competitive advantage in the struggle for network dominance. "It's a possibility," Homer said.
