The most recent sports association to fall foul of the insurer chaos following 11 September is the Football Association (FA).

Following the disruption in the insurance market after the events last year, the FA is unable to get satisfactory cover for its star players, like David Beckham and Michael Owen.

FA finance director Jamie Magraw said: "It is possible that the maximum aggregate cover which we have been able to obtain would be inadequate in the event of a total catastrophic loss."

The whole team is now valued at £252m on the open market.
