Brian Carpenter to retire

Amlin’s former UK chief executive Brian Carpenter will retire as a director of the Lloyd’s insurer on 30 September.

He was Amlin’s UK chief executive until January this year, when he handed the reins on an interim basis to Amlin UK’s deputy underwriting director Robert Lawther following his decision to retire.

Amlin announced that Carpenter would be retiring in December 2013.

Amlin will not have a UK chief executive going forward. Under a restructure Amlin UK will form part of the company’s global property/casualty unit, headed by  Kim Hvirgel.

The company said that Carpenter did not receive any compensation for loss of office sa a result of his retirement.

It added: “The board would like to express their gratitude for Mr Carpenter’s contribution to the Board during his tenure.”
