Secrecy surrounds the Financial Services Authority's (FSA) recent Joint Advisory Group meeting.

The Association of British Insurers (ABI), the General Insurance Standards Council (GISC), the Institute of Insurance Brokers (IIB) and the British Insurance Brokers' Association (Biba) attended the meeting.

The group was set up to discuss the issues surrounding the FSA's regulation of general insurance brokers by 2004.

However, a source told Insurance Times that attendees agreed to keep any decisions made at the meeting confidential.

ABI general insurance head John Parker revealed only that the meeting involved a "sharing of views about what the process will be".

Meanwhile, the first meeting of the Biba Regulatory Working Party will be held on 1 July.

The working party will meet two weeks after every advisory group meeting.

Biba group members include Andrew Paddick, director general of the IIB, and GISC board member Simon Bolam of EH Ranson & Co in Edinburgh.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
