Pressure is mounting on the FSA to follow Eliot Spitzer's lead and launch its own inquiry into the relationship between brokers and insurers.

The FSA has resisted launching its own Spitzer-style investigation, saying that it does not regulate the industry officially until January 2005.

But Lloyd's underwriter Hiscox has called on the FSA to begin its own inquiry in Britain, according to reports.

Hiscox and rival Lloyd's insurer Catlin have both launched reviews of practices internally, said reports.

Meanwhile, Spitzer said the investigation was not geographically bound and he had discussed it with regulators from nations outside the US.
