Former RK Carvill actuary chief to lead international analytics team

Gallagher Re has appointed Mark Flower as chief actuary for its UK operations.

Flower will lead the international analytics team, focusing on the continued development and coordination of the firm’s analytical capabilities across all business lines worldwide excluding the US. He is based in London.

Flower brings 16 years’ experience in the re/insurance and actuarial fields.

He was previously actuarial director at RK Carvill where he helped establish ReAdvisory Services. Prior to that Flower was actuarial manager at St Paul at Lloyd’s.

Flower’s appointment follows former chief actuary, Gillian James’, promotion to the newrole of business development actuary.

James will focus specifically on the provision of exceptional analytical input for new and existing Gallagher Re clients.

Commenting on the appointment, Simon Gander, chairman of Gallagher Re’s global management group, said: “The continued development of our analytical capabilities as part of our overall proposition to clients is a key priority for us.

"Having someone of Mark’s calibre join us is a testament to the emphasis that we place in this area.

"Mark will focus on the management of our international analytics team, and I have no doubt that he will be a valuable asset to the team and the business. We are delighted to welcome him to Gallagher Re.”
