Leckie takes on corporate risk portfolio

Appoint, appointment, hand, handshake, shake, new, join

Giles Insurance Brokers has appointed John Leckie as branch director, corporate risks.

Leckie joins Giles from Willis Group in New Zealand, where he was business development manager with responsibility for winning new business and developing a corporate new business pipeline.

Prior to Willis, he was sales manager at mergermarket, a mergers and acquisitions (M&A) proprietary intelligence service to key European financial institutions where he had overall responsibility for the Benelux region and Insurance Europe-wide.

Previously, Leckie worked at Willis as project manager within the M&A practice and was responsible for due diligence and account management within the private equity industry. He began his career in the London market insurance industry at Aon in property and casualty re-insurance across North America and Europe.

Giles chief executive Brendan McManus said: “John will be leading the City Corporate team’s development. We see him as the ideal man to help drive the business in this area during an important growth period for Giles and John’s worldwide experience will be of great benefit to the organisation. John’s hire is a further example of our continued ambition to attract the highest quality industry talent to Giles.”

Leckie said: “I accepted this role because it is a fantastic opportunity with an ambitious company. I am very much looking forward to working alongside my new colleagues and to start achieving my goal of significantly developing our City Corporate business.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
