Former New York mayor Rudolph Giuliani paid a surprise visit to Lloyd's this afternoon to meet chairman Sax Riley.
Accompanied by partner Judith Nathan, Giuliani took a tour of the underwriting floor accompanied by hefty bouncers. He then held a secret meeting with Lloyd's chairman Sax Riley for 30 minutes.
The visit was kept top secret because of safety fears.
Sax Riley told Insurance Times: "He came over because he wanted to say thanks because a lot of Lloyd's money is being paid in claims to the people of New York."
Giuliani refused to comment on the meeting with Riley before being whisked off under tight security.
