GMAC Insurance Holdings, an affiliate of General Motors, has bought Mexican motor insurance company ABA Seguros for $100m (£71m).
The Mexican company, which is headquartered in the northern Mexico city of Monterrey, insures all new General Motors vehicles in Mexico and has a large participation in the Mexican insurance industry.
GMAC Insurance, part of GMAC Financial Services, is one of the largest insurance companies in the US.
GMAC Financial Services is the financial arm of General Motors and operates in Canada, Europe, Mexico, South America and Asia.
