One Call InsuranceNik Springthorpe has joined One Call Insurance to head up training and development. He will be involved in developing and managing the company's new internet initiative. Springthorpe has worked in the industry for 16 years. One Call will be taking on another ten staff members over the next two months to help with this development.

SBJ StephensonHoward Fryer has been appointed as reg-ional managing director of SBJ Stephenson, Gravesend.Fryer takes up this appointment in addition to his role as regional managing director of the company's New Malden division.Elaine Owen has been appointed as reg-ional managing director of SBJ Stephenson, Stockport.

Select & ProtectSelect & Protect has appointed Tim Eacott as compliance manager. Eacott previously headed up the claims team for Select & Protect and has experience as a loss adjuster, and doing compliance work for Capita Eastgate.

LPH PitmanLloyd's broker LPH Pitman has appointed Michael Rendell and David King to develop a team for professional indemnity business.Rendell, formerly a director of Ofex-quoted brokers PYV, joins the board of LPH Pitman.King, formerly of Sterling Hamilton Wright, joins with 30 years' experience of the London Market.

Community Broking GroupDavid Worsley has joined Community Broking Group (CBG) as executive chairman.Worsley was previously financial director at Texas Group.Lord Tom Pendry has also joined CBG, as non-executive director.Pendry is a privy councillor with a seat in the House of Lords and he was formerly MP for Stalybridge.

Fresh! InsurancePhil Wheeler has joined Fresh! Insurance as commercial vehicle expert.Wheeler has five years' experience working for a personal lines call centre.In his new role, Wheeler has reponsibility for the development of Fresh! Insurance's new van and commercial vehicle product, Vanwise.

XL CapitalXL Capital Ltd has appointed Robert Lusardi, chief executive of XL Financial Products and Services, and David Shea, chief financial officer of XL Financial Products and Services, as interim chief executive and chief operating officer respectively at XL Weather & Energy. The interim appointments were announced following the decision by XL Weather & Energy's current chief executive and chief operating officer, Jeff Bortniker and Lynda Clemmons, to leave the company at the conclusion of their current employment agreements with XL.

AmlinAmlin has appointed Hannah Bale as group communications manager with responsibility for internal and external communications as well as brand development and marketing support.Bale has ten years' experience of corporate and financial public relations, having been head of corporate communications for Tokyo-Mitsubishi International until March 2001. Bale has also worked as a freelance consultant within financial services organisations including Mellon Global Investments and Abbey National.

Illium Insurance GroupWilliam Taylor has joined Illium Insurance Group as finance director.Taylor will also be finance director for Illium Managing Agency, managing Lloyd's Syndicate ILM 4040, which writes third party liability and employers' liability.Taylor previously worked for Omni Whittington Capital Management as finance director.

Hardy UnderwritingHardy Underwriting has appointed Tim Bartleet to its non-marine team.Bartleet joins Hardy from Advent Group, where he gained experience in underwriting a specialised direct commercial and household property account. Bartleet worked at Advent as an underwriter for 21 years.

HealthSureHealthSure has appointed Carolyn Cooper as finance manager.Reporting to finance director Steve Jallands, Cooper will oversee a team of 15. She is responsible for organising the finance department, in addition to producing management accounts and monitoring the company's investment portfolio.Prior to joining HealthSure, Cooper has spent one year as chief finance officer at British Mensa and six years as an independent consultant with her own business.

ZurichRichard Wood has joined Zurich as regional development manager for the South East.In his new role, Wood oversees broker development teams in Sussex, Kent, Surrey, London, Hertfordshire and Essex.Wood joins Zurich from A-Plan Insurance, where he worked for 20 years, most recently as divisional manager.

MMAMMA has appointed Linda Snellgrove in the newly-created role of marketing executive.Snellgrove has previously worked for St Paul International and Folgate in sales and marketing positions.In her new role at MMA she has responsibility for developing a new programme of broker training.

LovellsLovells has elected John Young as senior partner as of 1 May 2004.Young is currently head of Lovells' corporate insurance practice. He initially practised as a corporate transactional lawyer. Since 1991, he has focused on advising on the regulation of insurance business and corporate transactions within the insurance industry. Young has spent the whole of his professional life at Lovells. He will be chairman of the firm's partnership council, working closely with Lovells' managing partner Lesley MacDonagh.

IBBMalcolm Underhill has joined IBB as personal injury partner.Underhill has acted for both claimants and defendant insurers at different stages in his career. His particular specialist areas are brain and spinal injuries. He has dealt with claims worth a total of £30m in the last two years.

Motor Accidents Solicitors SocietyHiggs and Sons senior partner Ian Shovlin will chair Motor Accidents Solicitors Society (MASS), a nationwide association of solicitors specialising in road accident claims, for a second year. Shovlin's re-appointment comes at the same time as he takes up the post of senior partner at Higgs and Sons. Shovlin, who takes over the senior partner role from David Higgs, joined the company in 1979 as a trainee solicitor and is now head of the personal injury department.

DWFInsurance solicitor Suzette Cain has joined DWF's insurance team in Liverpool. Cain previously worked with Liverpool City Council and before that Weightmans in Liverpool and is a personal injury, professional indemnity and industrial disease specialist.

ASPACE SolutionsASPACE Solutions, a provider of multichannel customer authentication and authorisation solutions for the financial services industry, has appointed Mark Harris as chief information security officer. Harris has ten years' experience in the IT security sector. He joins ASPACE from nCipher, where he was business development manager and security consultant. Prior to nCipher, Harris was project manager at Thales e-security and worked as an IT consultant for Abbey National.

Misys Insurance ServicesMisys Insurance Services has opened a new base in Worcester and has made some new appointments.Russell Hirst has joined Misys as insurer relations technician for commercial lines from commercial broker Clarke Roxburgh. Richard Twigg, previously with Zurich's commercial department and Npower's financial services division, is now insurer relations technician, personal lines.Two new broker relations technicians have joined the team - Adrian Hanson from NFU Mutual and Gemma Hopkins from Drewe Insurance. Jagdeep Singh has taken on the role of membership technician. In addition, the external sales team has expanded, with Jason Mattless moving into the role of account executive.

AutoglassAutoglass has appointed Meri Williamson as operations director.She takes over from Nigel Doggett, who has become managing director after three years with the company.In her previous role as sales director at Autoglass, Williamson had responsibility for the acquisition of new business and the growth of existing clients. Williamson joined Autoglass from the PGSI Group at Shatterprufe, South Africa, where she was director of internal sales and supply chain.

Crawford & CompanyCrawford & Company has appointed Nancy Hempstead as its new head of healthcare.Hempstead has nine years' experience as chief nurse and director of quality. Most recently her role was as deputy chief executive for a prominent organisation.Hempstead reports directly to Crawford & Company UK operations managing director Benedict Burke.

Intech SolutionsIntech Solutions has appointed two new sales managers, Peter Green and Tony Collard, to take responsibility for sales of Intech's newly launched Zygoware insurance software. Both report directly to David York, Intech's director of sales and marketing. Green has 25 years' sales and sales management experience and prior to joining Intech was involved in selling Enterprise Software solutions to the financial community for Sun Microsystems. Collard has 13 years' experience in software sales, with a specific focus on newly launched software companies and products.
