Rod Gibson joins Alan Boswell Insurance

Rod Gibson has joined the Alan Boswell Insurance and Financial Services Group as compliance and training manager. Based in the Norwich head office, he will oversee a transition from the GISC to the new regime of the FSA.

Gibson has nearly 30 years' experience of the industry , starting his career with sales and underwriting at Royal Insurance. In 1993 he became claims director, initially for ITT London & Edinburgh and later for Royal London Mutual.

Allianz Cornhill
Steve Albutt has been appointed regional manager for the South and Anglia region of Allianz Cornhill Commercial, with responsibility for Luton and Chelmsford branches of the business.

Albutt joins Allianz Cornhill from NIG, where he managed the AMP Pearl commercial account.

He was previously casualty underwriting manager at Independent.

Royal & SunAlliance
Royal & SunAlliance has appointed Neil Shaw to the newly created role of technical strategy manager for engineering inspection services.

He joins from Baxi Group where he was operations manager.

Ace European Group
Ace European Group has appointed Ian Marshall to its risk management team at the Manchester office.

Marshall joins Ace from Zurich and brings more than ten years' of risk management experience to the team.

As a risk engineer, Marshall's remit will be to expand the services offered by the growing in-house risk management facility at the branch.

Atrium Underwriting
Atrium Underwriting has appointed John Spence as the aviation underwriter on Syndicate 609.

Spence joins the team from Hardy Underwriting, where he worked for 21 years, two in the position of aviation underwriter, and brings to Atrium his considerable knowledge of the class.

Spence will be underwriting a book of aviation hull and liabilities consisting of both general aviation and airline accounts and complementing the extensive hull war book already being underwritten by the syndicate.

The new business written by Spence will be assumed on a consortium basis with Atrium's other Syndicate 570.

Aon
Aon Ltd has appointed Malcolm Forbes-Wilson as corporate product director for the reinsurance and specialty divisions.

Forbes-Wilson will oversee Aon's strategy for identifying wordings that are common to more than one contract of insurance or reinsurance and developing them into structured products.

He has worked with Lloyd's broking firms since 1965, as a broker and non-marine producer.

HSBC Insurance Brokers
HSBC Insurance Brokers has appointed Ian Reaney as head of broking for the Midlands and Wales region.

Reaney brings with him 18 years' experience of working in corporate broking, which include broking roles at both Willis and Marsh.

SBJ Stephenson
James Hands and John Hembury have been appointed as directors at SBJ Stephenson.

Paragon
Paragon International Insurance Brokers has formed a new team to develop a UK professional indemnity and directors' and officers' portfolio.

The UK team will be headed by the recently appointed Nick Pauley, who has more than 25 years' market experience.

Maestro Tasker
Maestro Tasker has appointed Jacqui Marien and Rebecca Carrington to its technical department.

The department focuses on contract and claims processing, policy production and quality assurance.

Plexus Law
John Eastlake and Claire Swift join Plexus Law from the professional indemnity department of Eversheds. They join as partners and will both work in the professional indemnity (non-marine) team.

Suzanne Reece joins the catastrophic injuries team from Beachcroft Wansbroughs where she was a senior solicitor for the last seven years.

Robin Simon
Robin Simon has appointed Paul Dally as partner.

He has been a member of the team that formed Robin Simon for many years and has been closely associated with all types of professional indemnity and financial lines work in the North of England.

He has transferred to the Manchester office from Leeds, where he was a senior member of the team.

Amicus Legal
Colchester-based Amicus Legal has appointed Stuart Millar as its after-the-event marketing manager.

Millar, formerly an underwriter at Abbey Legal Protection, makes the transition from before-the-event legal expenses insurance to concentrate on personal injury conditional fee insurance.

Working closely with director and barrister Christine Malkin, he will be responsible for the development and marketing of the company's ATE products.

Camberford Law
Camberford Law has appointed Bill Boyce to head up its tour operators' scheme

Boyce has worked in the insurance industry since 1977.

Latterly he worked with Devitts as manager of the travel department.

Toad
Toad Group has appointed Paul Hughes as director of sales - technical services. He joins from Honeywell, where he was head of sales and marketing.

Hughes' appointment comes after Toad Group restructured its sales operations.

Under the new system sales director Andrew Sarssam will focus his activities on the company's growing number of insurance-based clients.

Capita Consulting
Capita Consulting, the management consultancy arm of Capita Group, has appointed Andrew Bower as senior consultant, financial services. Bower has worked with blue chip companies in the financial services industry for 17 years.

After three years with Eagle Star, he spent more than 11 years with various companies within the CGU Group, leaving in 2000. Bower continued his project role with Winchester White Management Consultants, where he worked with National Australia Group.
