Broker

Alexander Forbes
Peter Bodnar has joined Alexander Forbes International Risk Services as a claims consultant specialising in large and complex claims. He previously spent 22 years with Marsh.

Amlin Plus
Amlin Plus, the bloodstock and equine intermediary of Amlin plc, has signed a yard sponsorship deal with horse trainer Ralph Beckett, based at Whitsbury Manor Stables, Hampshire.

Beckett started training in November 1999 on the retirement of Peter Walwyn, to whom he had been assistant trainer for three and a half years.

Ascent Insurance Brokers
Jane Hearn joined Ascent as director, corporate, to develop and expand the firm's corporate and wholesale operations.

Hearn was previously broking director at Aon. She is joined by Alison Standbridge who takes on the role of broking manager.

Hearn was previously at Aon as a placing broker for Aon offices in the South.

Aon
Aon has announced promotions within its mergers and acquisitions group. Tim Davies, Jon Higgins and Jim Rutherford have been appointed to directorship level and Giles Murphy has been promoted to associate directorship level.

Davies will work with existing directors Rebecca Ford and Peter Casciani to lead Aon's mergers and acquisitions project management team in the UK.

Higgins will direct the group's European portfolio management team.

Rutherford's directorship role will include responsibilities for Scotland and Northern England in client development and project management. Murphy will have responsibility for the group's due diligence offering in the UK.

Glacier Re
Glacier Re has announced that Glenn Campbell, chief financial officer and chief operating officer, will join its board of directors.

Sander Mallien has resigned from the board of directors.

JK Buckenham
JK Buckenham has appointed Anna Neocleous to its special risks division.

Formerly a placing broker for Aon, Neocleous has specialised in arranging and managing binders and facilities with the majority of the Lloyd's binder markets. She has knowledge of Middle East, European, North American and Australasian territories.

Marsh
James Pierce, a former vice president with Jardine Lloyd Thompson, has joined Marsh to lead its global marine and energy practice. He was named chairman of the practice.

Ken Fong, from JP Morgan Chase & Co, joined Marsh as its chief human resources officer. Joseph Varnas, formerly of UBS Global Asset Management, was named global head of operations and information technology.

Allianz Cornhill Schemes
Allianz Cornhill Schemes has appointed Caitlin Gomes as product development manager. She has spent eight years working in marketing within the insurance industry. Her responsibilities will include developing new products and propositions and enhancing existing lines.

Amlin
Amlin's wholly owned reinsurance business has appointed Stuart MacKellar as managing director, subject to a work permit being granted by the Immigration Department.

Trained as a chartered accountant with BDO Stoy Hayward, MacKellar moved to Bermuda in 1995 as a senior auditor with KPMG Peat Marwick, Moore Stephens & Butterfield. He joined Alea in 1999. From 2004 he was chief financial officer and head of the Bermuda operations of Alea (Bermuda) and Alea Group Holdings (Bermuda).

He will have responsibility for non-underwriting activities.

Combined Insurance
Combined Insurance has appointed Catherine Pearce to the new role of marketing services executive.

Pearce's responsibilities include providing marketing support for the combined European operation.

Pearce joins the Kingston-based company having worked for International Currency Exchange.

Towergate Partnership
Andrew Jones has joined the Towergate Partnership as operations manager for TUAM.

Jones joins from the BCW group, where he was a business consultant specialising in credit management and risk solutions.

Drive Assist
Miles Keeble has joined Drive Assist as national account manager, taking responsibility for the relationship management and development of several key accounts. He will report to head of sales Chris Ashworth.

Keeble has spent 12 years in the insurance industry, within the claims environment. In the past five years his role has been to manage and develop supplier relationships and key accounts.

LMA
The Lloyd's Market Association (LMA), the body which represents all underwriting businesses at Lloyd's, has appointed Allison Goddard as technical executive.

Responsible for leading on business process reform initiatives on behalf of LMA members, her role is to co-ordinate the LMA's contribution to modernising processes in Lloyd's.

With nine years' experience in the industry, she has held positions in project management and underwriting support at Euler Trade Indemnity and Amlin.

Cooper Gay
Phil Sandercox has been appointed a senior vice president at Cooper Gay & Cashman, Minneapolis, and Cooper Gay Group, London.

Sandercox, 42, joins Cooper Gay & Cashman from General Re in Stamford, Connecticut, where he was vice president and regional manager, responsible for its New England and Mid Atlantic regions of specialty treaty.

He spent 16 years at General Re, concentrating on directors and officers and employment practice liability classes of business.

Michael Cashman, chief executive of Cooper Gay & Cashman, said: "We are excited to have Phil join our team. His extensive experience and contacts serve to significantly strengthen our presence in the general casualty and professional liability areas."

Sandercox began his career at Travelers in 1986. He holds a BA in economics from Bethany College, West Virginia, and an MBA from the University of St Thomas.

Sandercox also holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (1992) and the Associate in Reinsurance (1993) designations.
