Miles Smith
City-based broker Miles Smith has appointed environmental insurance specialist James Alexander to its commercial department.

Alexander is responsible for developing direct accounts within the waste sector and supporting the existing teams with Miles Smith. He previously worked for Certa, underwriting agents.

Robert Nott Insurance
Robert Nott Insurance has appointed Daniel Moylan as commercial account executive. Moylan has five years' experience with the company on the commercial side with a background of mainly commercial business and fleet. He is currently studying for CII qualifications.

Miller Insurance Services
Nigel Miller has joined Miller Insurance Services as director, marine. Miller has over 35 years' experience in the marine insurance market, which includes managing the marine operations at Jardine, and subsequently Jardine Lloyd Thompson, for over 20 years.

He is also an adviser to the UK government on war insurance, and is co-authoring the London Insurance Institute's advance study book on terrorism insurance.

J&M Insurance
Epping-based J&M Insurance Services has appointed Paul Dodds as chief operating officer. Dodds was previously deputy managing director of Cox Insurance Holding's broking and insurance services division.

AE Taylor Insurance
Manchester based AE Taylor Insurance has appointed Andrew McKenzie as an account executive in its corporate division. He joins from Folgate broker SMG.

McKenzie has nine years experience gained with brokers in the Manchester market. He will be responsible for servicing the needs of an existing panel of corporate clients, as well as new business.

Royal & SunAlliance
Royal & SunAlliance has appointed Aaron Devitt as professional and financial risk (ProFin) area business manager. Devitt will be based in the insurer's Glasgow office and will be taking responsibility for ProFin's regional business teams based in Glasgow, Leeds, Manchester.

Devitt previously worked for Hiscox as national sales manager, prior to which he spent time with AXA and Independent Insurance.

RAC Auto Windscreens
RAC Auto Windscreens has appointed Sara Stainsby as national sales manager for insurance. Previously she was employed by ALD Automotive as the national sales manager responsible for new business.

Stainsby will manage RAC Auto Windscreens' team of client managers. She will also be responsible for the development of new business as well developing customer relationships .

Mark Welthy joins Stainsby's team as a client manager. He is primarily responsible for RAC Auto Windscreens' LMUA customers, Welthy was previously employed by insurers Churchill, KGM Motor Policies and Equity Red Star.

HCML
Health & Case Management, the rehabilitation case management specialist, has appointed Yvonne Lane as its third client relationship manager. She is based in Croydon.

For the last 29 years, Lane, a qualified nurse, has worked in a variety of healthcare positions. She joins HCML from Human Focus Return to Work.

Dave Ball
Smart and Cook has appointed Dave Ball as integration director.

Ball, who has over 20 years' experience in commercial insurance, was previously a national key account manager with Allianz Cornhill.

In his new role, he will help shape and implement Smart and Cook's acquisition and expansion plans as part of the senior management team.

Ball says: "The rapid acceleration in pace of the growth strategy makes it a dynamic place to be. My role will be to identify and work with acquired businesses to quickly develop the Smart and Cook ethos and grow the business".

Ball is married with two young daughters. He enjoys all sports and is an avid Aston Villa supporter. He likes to dabble in property renovation.
