DS Howell DS Howell Insurance Brokers has appointed Paul Norman as operations manager. Norman was previously at AXA Insurance for eight years, most recently as an account executive. He will be based at DS Howell's head office in Tonyrefail, Mid Glamorgan.

Carole NashCarole Nash Insurance Con-sultants has appointed Allister Hill as chief financial officer.Hill spent seven years as financial director of Littlewoods Finance Company. Prior to joining Littlewoods he spent seven years in a variety of financial and business planning roles with American Express.

Heath LambertAon director Bob Wallace has joined Heath Lambert Group's construction division as an executive director.Wallace has more than 30 years' experience in the construction insurance market and has moved to Heath Lambert after 15 years with rival Aon. At Aon he was responsible for direct construction clients, site risk exposure and the broking of risks in the London market.

CBGCommunity Broking Group (CBG) has appointed Robin Slinger as a non-executive director.Slinger has spent his career at National Westminster Bank before taking early retirement from his position as a director. At CBG, he will chair the audit and remuneration committees.

PavilionPavilion Insurance Network has made four new appointments.David Lloyd has been appointed executive manager, IT. Lloyd joins the company from Becta, a Coventry-based organisation providing educational information.Natalie Garner becomes customer services supervisor. Garner has 10 years' insurance experience and began her car-eer with Commercial Union.Jasminder Kaur joins as product development and research assistant in the sales and marketing department. Giles Rees, currently marketing assistant, has been promoted to marketing and web services manager.

Insurers

Alea GroupAlea Group Holdings (Bermuda) has appointed Peter Brown as manager of investor relations, based in London.Since 1999, Brown has held a number of financial positions within Prudential, most recently as corporate finance manager with responsibility for Prudential's UK and Europe insurance operations.

Allianz CornhillDavid White has been appointed as underwriting assistant supporting Allianz Cornhill Legal Protection's after-the-event underwriting team.White has 11 years' experience in customer support and most recently worked for Cornhill Direct in its service department for 18 months.

BeazleyBeazley has appointed Patrick Hartigan as deputy treaty underwriter.Hartigan joins from Aon, where he was director of Aon Re global international marine and non-marine reinsurance.

Ecclesiastical InsuranceEcclesiastical Insurance has appointed Mike Burnup as group IT manager. Burnup was previously UK IT director of commercial property services company Jones Lang Lasalle.

ZurichZurich has appointed Alan Woof as chief underwriting officer, UK general insurance.Woof has been with Zurich for 27 years and has been underwriting director for Zurich Municipal since 2002. In addition, Bill Paton has been appointed chief claims officer. Paton joined Zurich in May 2003 as head of claims for the general business.

MarkelMarkel International has appointewd Tony Curtin as claims manager, specialty, property and casualty.Curtin will take up his position at the beginning of November. He has 26 years' experience, working largely within the London market, including claim positions within Lloyd's.

HighwayMotor insurer Highway has appointed Peter Gallagher as claims director. Gallagher will join the board of Highway Company and Highway Insurance Agency. He has been with Highway for 18 months, previously in the position of catastrophic injury claims manager. Prior to joining Highway, he held various senior claims positions at St Paul Re, Munich Re and GRE.

Allianz CornhillChris Everett has been appointed development manager at Allianz Cornhill Commercial's Bristol branch. Everett joins Allianz Cornhill from Linaker (Western), where he was development manager. He previously worked for Independent Insurance in a sales development role.

Legal

Silverbeck RymerInsurance law firm Silverbeck Rymer has appointed Gavin Wright as its sales and marketing director.Wright joins the firm from KPMG and takes up a main board position.

Bott & CoPersonal injury specialist Bott & Co has appointed Neil Parkinson as its first trainee solicitor.Parkinson begins a two-year training contract with the firm. He joins from Forbes solicitors, where he worked as a paralegal for several year

Other

Searchlight SolutionsPeter Farmer has joined Searchlight Solutions, an insurance training provider, as a director. He rejoins Searchlight having originally been a founder director, in 1999. He left the company to join Deloitte Consulting as a senior consultant, during which time he remained a non-executive director of Searchlight. Farmer has gained 30 years' insurance industry experience with companies including Royal Insurance, AA Insurance Services and United Assurance.

Russell Watt Marsh has appointed Russell Watt as a business risk consultant in the company's Southampton office. Working within the corporate development team, Watt will focus on developing Marsh's business in the South. He has joined Marsh following his graduation from Glasgow Caledonian University, where he obtained a first class honours degree in risk management. He was also the recipient of the Marsh Prize, which is awarded to the student with the best overall performance over the duration of the course.Watt is 22 and in his spare time he enjoys sport, particularly football. He is currently studying for his Advanced Diploma with the Chartered Insurance Institute.
