Heath LambertHeath Lambert Group has launched a specialist transportation division. Heading up the division is executive director Mike Hawkes, a former risk manager for London Transport.As part of the move, Mark Prowting joins Heath Lambert from JLT, where he worked for 13 years specialising in the bus and coach sector. Prior to this, he was an underwriter for Zurich. Prowting is the second transport specialist from JLT to join Heath Lambert, following the recruitment of Martin Ecott in June.

MarshMarsh has appointed Tristan Webb as a development executive in the company's Southampton office. Working within the corporate development team, Webb will focus on developing Marsh's business in the South. He has 15 years' experience in the insurance and broking industry, and joins Marsh from a local broking company.

ICP Insurance ConsultantsSimon Millar ahas been appointed head of insurance of specialist property owners intermediary ICP Insurance Consultants.Millar has 15 years' experience in the commercial property owners insurance sector. He has previously been London regional manager with Reich Insurance Brokers and prior to that insurance manager at Great Portland Estates.

First Commercial InsuranceFirst Commercial Insurance Brokers has appointed Joanne Wiseman as an account handler to work from its Burnham-on-Crouch offices. Wiseman has 21 years' experience with Norwich Union and Resolute Management, having worked in a variety of roles and most recently as senior claims handler at the Basildon office.Wiseman's role will be to assist in the handling of the company's mid-commercial client base.

WillisJohn Pelly is to retire as chairman of Willis Re after 33 years with the company.In preparation for Pelly's departure in 2005, Grahame Millwater will assume global leadership of Willis Re with immediate effect.Millwater was chief operating officer of Willis Re for seven years, working closely with Pelly, prior to being appointed chief executive of Willis Global Markets in 2002.

Carvill Carvill, a reinsurance intermediary in specialty business, has appointed Mark Verheyen to its ReAdvisory team as vice-president.ReAdvisory provides clients with a range of modelling, risk assessment and security analysis. Verheyen will be responsible for providing actuarial and financial consultancy to Carvill clients.Verheyen joins from Ernst & Young, where he was a managing consultant. Prior to Ernst & Young, he worked at CNA Re for ten years, where he was responsible for developing CNA Re's pricing models.

BeazleyLloyd's insurer Beazley Group has appointed a specialist engineering team headed up by Peter Evans. Evans and his team will be responsible for developing specific products for Beazley in the engineering class and for bringing new business opportunities to Beazley. The team joins from GE Frankona Re, where Evans was the global product lead for engineering. Evans was previously a worldwide contract works underwriting manager for AIG in New York and he has 25 years' underwriting experience.

Allianz CornhillJason Denton has been appointed account development manager at Allianz Cornhill Engineering in Manchester.Denton will be responsible for account development east and west of the Pennines. He has 13 years' experience in the engineering insurance and inspection market, and was most recently at Zurich.In addition, Stephen Bottamley has been appointed key account manager at Allianz Cornhill Commercial's Milton Keynes branch. Bottamley joined Allianz Cornhill in July 2004 from Munters, the fire and flood disaster management/restoration company, where he was UK business development manager.In his new role he will manage the new business team in Milton Keynes and will have overall responsibility for the development and relationship management with Willis Network handled from the Milton Keynes branch, and other key customer accounts.Allianz Cornhill Legal Protection has appointed Chris Alton as claims manager.Alton was most recently claims director for Hill House Hammond, having held senior claims positions at Royal & SunAlliance. He has more than 25 years' experience in the insurance industry.

Brit InsuranceSimon Stonehouse has been appointed hull underwriter of Brit Insurance, on behalf of Syndicate 2987 and Brit Insurance Ltd.He will replace Peter Chrismas, who retires in October. Stonehouse has deputised on the marine hull account since 1993. He has more than 20 years' experience in marine underwriting.

XL Capital XL Capital has appointed Mark Callahan as chief actuarial officer of XL's insurance operations. Callahan was previously a senior underwriter for XL Financial Solutions, XL's alternative risk transfer group. He will be based in Hartford and will report to Dick Miller, chief financial officer of XL's insurance operations.Prior to joining XL in 1998, Callahan worked for Milliman in the US, establishing and managing its property/casualty office in Dallas and managing its Bermuda office. XL Insurance Company has appointed Gernot Klantschnig as country manager for its German branch. Klantschnig will take up his new position from March 2005. Klantschnig has 20 years' experience in the industrial insurance industry. He has spent the past 16 years working in the risk management segment at Allianz.

SagaSaga has appointed two new non-executive directors: Kent Atkinson, formerly group finance director at Lloyds TSB; and Alan Parker, Whitbread chief executive. The executive team will continue to be led by chief executive Andrew Goodsell.

Talbot UnderwritingTalbot Underwriting, a Lloyd's speciality insurer, has appointed James Bamford as political risk underwriter. Bamford will succeed Nicky Ablett, who is leaving Talbot after 12 years with the group. Bamford has 24 years' experience in the insurance industry. He spent the last 15 years with Goshawk, where he was latterly responsible for the political risk, contract frustration, marine and aviation war, political violence, marine liability, satellite and nuclear accounts. At Talbot, Bamford will be responsible for the political risk and contract frustration accounts, and will also write marine and aviation war and political violence business.

Max ReMax Re has formed a dedicated property division in Bermuda. The business will be led by Louis Adanio, senior vice president and chief property underwriter, and will focus on commercial, industrial and technical risks. Adanio has more than 25 years' underwriting experience, primarily with SCOR Reinsurance and, most recently, with Endurance Specialty in Bermuda.

AceAce Europe has appointed Shaun Cooper as computer network underwriter within its technical lines divison.Cooper has 16 years' insurance experience in the corporate and industrial risks sector. He spent the past five years specialising in information security and recently underwriting at AIG. Reporting to David Walters, technical lines manager for Ace UK and Ireland, Cooper takes responsibility for the ongoing development and underwriting of Ace Dataguard, a speciality insurance solution protecting businesses against electronic fraud, including malicious act, human error and accidental damage.

Close Premium FinanceTim Wilson has joined Close Premium Finance as sales and marketing director.Wilson was formerly managing director of Alexander Forbes Risk Services' UK retail division. He has 24 years' experience in the broker market. Wilson will replace Alison Mills, who steps down as sales and marketing director in December.

Rainbow InternationalRestoration and recovery specialist Rainbow International has recruited David Carr to join its team of national account managers as business development manager.Carr was previously a business development manager at a refurbishment company. Prior to that, he held similar roles at a law firm and a brewery.

IPSLeigh Lipscombe has been appointed as manager at specialist insurance recruitment consultancy IPS's Manchester office. After spending four years at IPS's Birmingham office, Lipscombe will now be responsible for commercial insurance recruitment in the North West. Prior to working for IPS he spent eight years as a commercial broker.
