RFIB GroupRFIB Group, a Lloyd's broker, has appointed Stephen Hirst as director of RFIB Marine, with immediate effect.Adrian Tanner, currently managing director of RFIB Marine, retires later in the year and on 1 August 2004 Hirst will take over from Tanner as managing director. He will also join the group board. Hirst was a founding director of RFIB and has been in the marine market for 40 years. He began his career at Price Forbes in the marine department. He was also deputy chairman of Willis's marine division.

RegencyRegency Finance and Insurance Services has appointed Adam Rickard as SEAT account manager.Rickard will be responsible for developing and maintaining Regency's relationship with SEAT. He will also support individual SEAT dealerships to maximise sales of the company's used car guarantee to customers.

Stuart AlexanderStuart Alexander has appointed Andy Poole to the board as business development director. Poole has been with Stuart Alexander for 12 months. He assisted with the set-up of the company's SME scheme with AXA.

Motaquote Motaquote has appointed a new group compliance manager ahead of FSA regulation. Ian Brown will be responsible for making sure Motaquote continues to comply with GISC rules and is prepared for forthcoming FSA regulation across the whole group. Brown joins the Motaquote team from Churchill Insurance in Cardiff. He has 16 years' industry experience.

Travellers Protection ServicesNorwich-based travel and wedding insurance specialist Travellers Protection Services has appointed Will Sommerville as business development manager.Sommerville was formerly national sales manager for Greens Health & Fitness, part of the De Vere Group. More recently, he was business development manager for Fitness Express.

Assurant SolutionsIan Moffatt has joined Assurant Solutions UK's senior management team, with responsibility for sales and marketing operations. Moffatt joins Assurant from the former GE Capital, where he spent the last ten years, most recently as regional director, Western Europe, for GE Financial Insurance.

Reliance National Insurance Omni Whittington has appointed Harry Whitcher as the new compliance and risk manager for Reliance National Insurance Company (Europe). Whitcher joins from the FSA, where he was a supervisor from 1998.He has spent 21 years in the insurance industry, covering regulation, motor, commercial lines, personal lines, property and life assurance. Prior to joining the FSA, Whitcher was insurance claims and risk manager with Camas and claims supervisor for AGF Insurance.

Allianz Cornhill Legal ProtectionAllianz Cornhill Legal Protection has appointed Matt Warren as business developer, responsible for the South West.Previously with Allianz Cornhill Direct, Warren has seven years' experience in the industry.

Zurich Zurich has appointed Adrian Saunders as specialty manager for personal insurance business.Saunders is to head up the Zurich Premier team and will be taking responsibility for specialty product development. Aimed at the mid-net worth market, the main objective will be to grow market share with the existing home and motor (family) fleet product. Saunders was previously regional manager at Hiscox, and prior to this an underwriting manager for Norwich Union.

Swiss ReChristian Mumenthaler has been appointed as chief risk officer of Swiss Re Group, succeeding Bruno Porro, who will retire at the end of 2004. In his new function as chief risk officer, Mumenthaler will become a member of the executive board and the executive board committee of the group. He joined Swiss Re in 1999 as a manager in the strategic planning unit. Swiss Re has also appointed Charlotte Gubler as head of communication and HR. Gubler will become a member of the executive board. She joined Swiss Re in 1993 as senior credit risk manager.The changes will be effective 1 January 2005.

Wellington Wellington Underwriting Agencies has appointed Will Curran as head of property treaty reinsurance underwriting to be written into Syndicate 2020.Curran will lead a new reinsurance treaty team and will report to the chief underwriting officer of Wellington, David Foreman.

XL London MarketXL London Market has appointed Dermot O'Donohoe as chief executive. O'Donohoe is currently the head of XL's insurance operations in the UK and Ireland, a position he will retain. He joined XL in 1991 as a professional lines underwriter. He began his career in 1981 as a surety bond underwriter with the Insurance Corporation of Ireland. Paul Drake has also been appointed as active underwriter of XL London Market's Syndicate 1209.Drake joined XL London Market in 2001 as underwriting development manager. He was previously employed by R J Kiln and Co, where he was deputy underwriter of Syndicate 765; and Cottrell & Maguire, where he was property and accident and health underwriter for Syndicate 1173.

St PaulThe St Paul at Lloyd's has appointed Andrew Corton as project cargo underwriter. Corton joins from Royal & SunAlliance. He has more than 20 years' experience of Lloyd's and the company market.

Canopius Managing AgentsCanopius Managing Agents has appointed Jock Birney and Cees Schrauwers as non-executive directors. Birney has spent the majority of his career as an investment banker at SG Warburg. He was also senior managing director of Securitas Capital, Swiss Re's private equity arm, and continues to be chairman of Questor VCT 2 and a non-executive director of international law firm Hammonds.Schrauwers has 30 years' industry experience, most recently as managing director of Aviva International. He worked with Coopers & Lybrand to establish and develop its insurance consulting practice. He has also worked with Commercial Union, where he held a number of senior positions covering both the general insurance and life sectors.

Amber CreditAmber Credit has appointed Will Holland as finance director. Holland joins Amber after holding a number of senior finance roles in the expatriate private medical insurance division at Bupa. Prior to that, he worked at the life assurance arm of Countrywide Assured.Amber Credit has also appointed Evan Griffiths as key account manager. Griffiths will be responsible for key accounts in the premium finance personal and commercial lines sector of Amber Credit.

Lloyd's Market AssociationThe Lloyd's Market Association (LMA) has appointed Bill Rendall to the newly created role of head of underwriting and claims.Rendall joined R J Kiln & Co in 1973, becoming active underwriter of Syndicates 510 and 557 in 1992. He retired from Kiln in 2002, having also served as chairman of the Non-Marine Association (one of the founding associations of the LMA) from 1999 to 2000 and as a director of the former Lloyd's Business Development Unit.

FSSC Teresa Sayers has been appointed as chief executive of the Financial Services Skills Council (FSSC). Sayers has been managing director for the FSSC since November 2003. She has held various roles in the FSSC, including director of research and development and acting chief executive. Prior to this, she was research manager of the Insurance and Related Financial Services Training Organisation, which merged with the Banks and Building Society National Training Organisation to become the Financial Services NTO.

Cunningham LindseyCunningham Lindsey UK has appointed Gary Liptrot as business development director.Previously with Capita Insurance Services, Liptrot has 30 years' industry experience and has held a number of senior board-level positions, both in operations and business development. In his new role at Cunningham Lindsey, Liptrot will also be responsible for specific client relationships.

FSCS The FSA has appointed Richard Pratt and Kate Williams as non-executive directors of the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS).A former director general of the Jersey Financial Services Commission from 1999 to 2003, Pratt was previously director of external affairs at the London International Financial Futures and Options Exchange (Liffe).Williams is a licensed insolvency practitioner, former director in the Deloitte & Touche corporate recovery department, and head of corporate member solvency in the Lloyd's risk management department.
