The Broker NetworkThe Broker Network has promoted Martyn Denney to the role of head of broker services. In this new position, Denney will be responsible for the delivery of all Broker Network services to network members. Denney moves from his previous role of business development manager for a panel of members in the South of England. His new role will see him managing the external business development managers and also the new member team, which aims to ensure the smooth transition of brokers into the network.

La PlayaPaula Hawthorne has joined Cambridge-based broker La Playa as account executive, working on the corporate side of the business in media, arts and technology. Hawthorne was previously a City loss adjuster and more recently worked at Cambridge broker Gibbs Denley. She has 15 years' experience in the industry, particularly in claims and commercial broking.

Folgate PartnershipThe Folgate Partnership has appointed Simon Trott as managing director. He will head up its plans to develop and integrate Folgate Networks, including Folgate Masterplan, Folgate's compliance service, and the roll out of the Folgate Appointed Representative Network. Trott has experience in developing broker networks, having spent ten years at Misys Insurance Management, four years of which were as sales and marketing director.

Henderson Insurance BrokersHenderson Insurance Brokers Ltd (HIBL) has opened a new office in Sheffield. HIBL currently has ten offices (including Leeds, London, Kirmington, Scunthorpe, Lincoln and Stamford).The Sheffield office will cover all aspects of commercial and corporate insurance in addition to providing risk management services. The company's move into Sheffield has created a number of new employment opportunities. David Saxby has been appointed branch director of the new office. Responsible for the overall management and organisation of the office, Saxby oversees development and marketing activities. Sarah Yarrow has joined the Sheffield office as an account broker. Yarrow performs administration duties and is responsible for the running of client accountsHaydn Fields has joined as an account executive.

Keelan WestallKeelan Westall has appointed Sue Bull as technical and compliance manager.Before joining Keelan Westall two years ago, Bull spent ten years at GA Bonus in a variety of roles, including account controller, project manager, senior branch underwriter and finally as part of their claims department specialising in the handling of large property claims. Bull has also worked at Eagle Star as a commercial underwriter.

Regency Finance & InsuranceGentian Winterson has been appointed as business development manager for Regency Finance & Insurance.Winterson previously worked for Auto Exchange as an account manager.In her new role, Winterson is required to travel to motor dealership groups and smaller independents to obtain new clients.

Royal & SunAllianceRoyal & SunAlliance (R&SA) has appointed two new underwriters to its professional and financial risk personal accident team, which increases the London team to nine people. Sarah Charman has been appointed as senior personal accident underwriter. Charman began her career in personal accident and travel underwriting. She joined the claims team in 1990 and has managed the personal accident team as client claims manager since 1994. Charman will be rejoining the underwriting team as a senior underwriter with specific responsibility for operations, research and development.Anna Fentiman has been appointed as personal accident underwriter Fentiman joins the personal accident team after a five-year period with Willis Ltd where she was a personal accident placing broker.

James Chapman & CoManchester-based law firm James Chapman & Co has expanded its team of personal injury solicitors with the appointment of three assistants.Matthew Davies, Carol Purang and Helen Penney have all recently completed their legal training. Davies and Purang have joined James Chapman & Co's personal injury team. Davies specialises in catastrophic injury and Purang has joined the industrial disease team. Penney specialises in public and employers' liability.

NEBOSHTeresa Budworth has been appointed as a director of the National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH).Budworth is training and consultancy manager for Norwich Union Risk Services. She has gained experience of working in the field of health and safety over the years and with NEBOSH on the development of national training courses and qualifications.Budworth is currently responsible for health, safety and environmental consultancy and training services for Norwich Union Risk Services and also works with Norwich Union Insurance to integrate risk management into commercial insurance products.

Crawford & CompanyCrawford & Company has recruited Fraser Fletcher to join its UK subsidence team in Birmingham. Reporting to national building services manager Robert Sharpe, Fletcher will join the company in early January 2003 as senior technical manager. Fletcher joins Crawford from AMG where he was unit partner (national subsidence unit). At Crawford his role will include co-ordinating technical reviews on all subsidence claims, the development of an advanced diary system, which will form part of the new intelligent claims handling system currently in development, as well as taking an active part in supplier management.

Woodstock Insurance BrokersWest Malling-based Woodstock Insurance Brokers has appointed Steve Gamage as operations manager and Oliver Burt as customer services manager.Gamage has 14 years' experience in the insurance industry in underwriting, claims and management roles. He has worked for Allianz Cornhill, Europ Assistance, the former CGNU and the Children's Mutual. Gamage's new role includes managing acquisitions and ensuring Woodstock's FSA compliance.Burt has seven years' experience in personal lines insurance, working for Churchill Insurance and a number of brokers. He is now responsible for Woodstock's customer relations.
