Catlin
Graham Pewter has been appointed as president and chief executive of Catlin Insurance Company in Bermuda.

Previously he was president and chief executive of Commercial Risk Partners. He has more than 20 years' experience of the Bermuda insurance market.

XL London Market
XL London Market has appointed Julian Bowen-Rees as global practice leader for XL's equine business, including both the XLLM bloodstock and livestock operations and XL's equine business in Lexington, Kentucky.

Bowen-Rees will remain class underwriter for XLLM's Syndicate 1209. He reports to Nick Metcalf, chief executive of the product line and of XL London Market.

Allianz Cornhill
Catherine Dixon has been appointed as packages account manager.

She has been with Allianz Cornhill for 16 years, having previously worked as a manager within the commercial property underwriting team at the head office in Guildford, and a risk control surveyor at Allianz Cornhill's Leeds branch.

In her new role, she will be responsible for the account management of the Allianz Cornhill UK SME book of business.

esure
Gordon Hannah has joined esure as head of claims, reporting directly to chief executive Peter Graham.

He joins from The St Paul International where he was general manager, claims. His career spans more than 25 years in the insurance industry, mainly with Guardian Royal Exchange and AXA.

Euclidian Underwriting
Following its successful expansion to £350m capacity, Lloyd's insurer Euclidian Group has announced four new appointments to the board of Euclidian Underwriting (EUL).

Ian Holmes, pictured left, who joined from Equitas in 1999 and was previously claims manager, becomes a member of the EUL board as claims director.

He is joined on the board by marine reinsurance specialist Lee Anderson, pictured left, who joined in 1998 and has managed the marine underwriting since December 2001.

Experienced Lloyd's professional indemnity and liability underwriter Don Carey has rejoined the EUL board as a non-executive director.

Another newly appointed board member is Dan Glaser, vice president, of AIG's foreign general insurance.

JTW Reinsurance Consultants
JTW Reinsurance Consultants has appointed Stephen Hartigan as director.

Hartigan brings 30 years of reinsurance expertise to the company with particular strengths in reinsurance negotiations, dispute resolution and arbitration work, gained with organisations such as Groupama, where he was managing director.

Midland Broker Alliance
The Midlands' largest group of insurance brokers has appointed an ex-compliance officer to ensure its members will meet strict new regulations set by the FSA.

Ian Parker, formerly a compliance officer with Pricewaterhouse Coopers, is initially helping the 11 members of the Midland Broker Alliance to comply with the existing GISC requirements by the end of March.

The Bollington Group
Sue Evans has joined the motor trade division of North West based broker The Bollington Group.

She has worked in the insurance industry for more than eight years and will be assisting in the development of the group's motor trade account.

Hayes Parsons
Venita Vicary has been appointed managing director of Hayes Parsons, including Educational Insurance Services.

Her experience spans a 30-year career with national and independent brokers in the Bristol region.

Aascent
Premium finance operation Aascent is promoting its business development manager Greg Johnson, who becomes business development director.

Johnson has been with the company since its inception and through its launch in April last year.

He has more than 20 years' experience in insurance, having worked in the broking market before moving to TIFCO in 1998.

The Davis Group
Kevin Hancock, pictured left, has been promoted to managing director of The Davis Group. He is responsible for overseeing the business development strategies for the retail and wholesale divisions.

Formerly responsible for the growth of The Davis Group's retail haulage business, Anthony Gardiner, pictured right, has been promoted to deputy managing director.

Criterion
Simon Willsmer has joined Criterion Chartered Loss Adjusters.

He joins from the UN, where he headed a team within the verification and valuation branch of the UN Compensation Commission, based in Geneva.

Veitch Penny
Exeter law practice Veitch Penny has recruited Daniel Turner as a trainee legal executive to assist with its growing case load of personal injury claims.

He has spent the past two years specialising in defendant personal injury work for a Somerset law firm.

Easthams
Akil Patel has been appointed as personal injury claims specialist at Easthams Solicitors.

He joins from Horwich Farrelly Solicitors in Manchester.

CII
The CII has appointed Kevin Mills as the new IT manager of its computer support group.

With more than 14 years' experience, Kevin joins the CII from The Design Council, where he was IS manager. Prior to this position, he was IT manager for The Royal Society.

Previously he was chief operating officer a post he retained since the company commenced operating in December 1999.

Bank of Butterfield recruits new team

City of London based Bank of Butterfield (UK) has recruited three former Cater Allen Private Bank executives to spearhead its move into full private banking for the clients of professional advisers.

The new appointments are:
Paul Turtle joins as managing director. He was previously managing director at Cater Allen. He has more than 35 years' experience of international and private banking and will be in charge of all of the bank's operations in the UK.

Antonia Blake, who joined in January 2003, will head up marketing for the bank. She was at Cater Allen for almost seven years rising to head of marketing communications.

Andrew Chalmers, who also joined in January 2003, will head up the intermediary development for Bank of Butterfield. At Cater Allen, he was southern regional sales manager. Prior to working at Cater Allen, Chalmers held national account manager and broker consultant positions with major insurance companies such as Standard Life, AXA and NPI.
