Insurer Goshawk said it would be open to talks with Nikko, reports said today.
The UK Takeover Panel gave Nikko until 23 November to decide whether it was interested in making a bid for the insurance company.
It said it was interested only if Goshawk would be open to talks.
After Goshawk called off talks with Nikko last month, according to reports it now says it would be willing to meet with the Japanese Investment Company again to move talks forward.
