Insurance and motoring assistance partnership provider Green Flag Group is launching a short messaging service (SMS) facility for its motoring assistance customers.
This follows a successful pilot of the service.
From now on, customers who call the company's incident management centre in Leeds on their mobiles will be sent a text message confirming that the recovery vehicle is on its way and will be on time.
The messages specifically detail the recovery agent's company name and includes the roadside assistance partnership brand.
The director of motoring assistance, Tony Dunlop, said: "With the number of calls made from mobile phones steadily rising, the text messaging facility represents a simple and cost-effective means of offering additional information and reassurance to customers, using widely available technology."
"Introducing the SMS text messaging facility to our motoring assistance package demonstrates our commitment to customer service as well as our ability to embrace the latest advances in technology," he added.
