Integration solution provider Vitria has been chosen by leading French insurer Groupama-GAN to provide its strategic integration platform.

BusinessWare, Vitria's integration platform, will be the basis of Groupama-GAN's global application integration strategy, part of its IT development plan to save €152m (£96m) by 2007.

Groupama-GAN's managing director for insurance and services Daniel Blanchard explained: "In order to meet these requirements and build a communal IT system which will serve the merged business we have to adapt and transform many of our current processes and consider new integration requirements.

"Vitria BusinessWare will enable the new organization to deliver both stronger steering of IT and business processes, and significant reduction in expenditure."

Groupama-GAN says it decided it was essential to implement an integration server platform in order to integrate all of the information and processes from across its operations.

BusinessWare will not only integrate Groupama-GAN's current software systems such as SAP and PeopleSoft, and Mainframe, Unix and NT platforms, but will also provide integration with IBM Websphere and BEA Weblogic application servers.
