Groupama Personal Insurances has strengthened its ecommerce presence this week with the creation of a dedicated internet team.

Headed up by electronic trading manager, Ken Hutchinson, the new division will seek to investigate, develop and implement ecommerce opportunities in conjunction with brokers and intermediaries.

Hutchinson said: "We know that over 70% of brokers and intermediaries don't currently have their own web site. The new team can help these businesses create a fully compliant web presence, which goes beyond pure brochure-ware."

Hutchinson and his team will also offer advice and guidance to brokers who have a web site, as well as providing advice on compliance issues with data protection laws.

Groupama managing director, Tim Ablett said: "Ecommerce is beginning to have a huge impact on the insurance industry, and we want to make sure our brokers and intermediaries are at the forefront of these developments."
