Groupama Insurances has signed up two senior figures from AXA.
Phil Bird will become Groupama's director of non-motor and SME underwriting and Kate Mutter will head the group's sales and agency activities.
Bird was formerly head of product development at AXA and will report directly to Groupama managing director François-Xavier Boisseau when he starts on 13 April.
Mutter will join later in the year to lead the group's intermediary sales and agency team.
Boisseau said: "We aim to significantly develop the personal and SME lines of our business and Phil, working with the experience and expertise of our underwriting and actuarial teams, will play a vital role in helping us to achieve this.
"Kate's appointment is also key - particularly as we begin to refocus our development efforts following the completion of our research into the needs of UK brokers and intermediaries.
"She will be taking an active role in the management of our agency portfolio and in developing the direction and skills of the business team that services them."
