Halifax General Insurance has extended its flood risk guarantee until the end of 2008.

The guarantee applies to all existing Halifax, Bank of Scotland and Intelligent Finance mortgage customers who have held their buildings or contents insurance with the group since before 31 December 2002.

It was originally due to expire at the end of 2005.

Halifax has also extended its pricing commitment. It said that any premium changes due to flood risk would amount to no more than 5% per annum over and above the normal annual increase in premiums across the total Halifax insurance portfolio.

It has also guaranteed customers who invest in new floodskirt technology a 20% discount on their annual premium, and if the floodskirt is subsequently used to prevent flooding, customers will be given a cash payment of £2,000.

Customers of Halifax General Insurance can also receive a free flood survey as well as free flood advice and guidance.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
