Hammonds insurance partners has announced that it is to de-merge its commercial insurance practice. Under the plan the commercial team will set up a new practice on 1 May.
The new practice will be called Robin Simon, specialising in insurance coverage, re-insurance, professional indemnity and property insurance work.
The new firm will have branches in London, Leeds and Manchester and all of Hammonds' insurance lawyers and staff will be included in the move.
Hammonds senior partner Richard Burns said: "Over the next few years, the provision of services to the insurance world is likely to involve different business dynamics from those which drive a major commercial law firm and this is something that I and the partners in commercial insurance have recognised."
