Former managing director of Greatminster Group's General Network (TGN), Lloyd Hanks, has joined Groupama to head the sales and agency operations of its personal insurances division in the UK.

He had been with TGN for just six months and only announced he was quitting his job last week.

"Groupama Personal Insurances is firmly committed to its broker and intermediary network and I will ensure that the Group's relationships with its business partners are nurtured fully and that new opportunities are explored," he said.

"I am delighted to be joining Groupama Insurances in the UK at such an exciting time in its development. This is a tremendous opportunity to contribute to the success of a new force in the personal insurances market."

Hanks has worked in the personal insurances sector for 30 years having entered the insurance industry in 1970, taking up a series of roles in sales and marketing.

Nearly 20 years at Axa culminated in him reaching the position of UK sales and agency manager, with overall responsibility for the company's relationship with brokers and intermediaries.

In 1997 he joined London and Edinburgh as group marketing manager and most recently was managing director of The General Network.
