Hampshire-based brokerage Healthy Pets Insurance has acquired Vet Pet in a move that will expand Healthy Pets' customer base and double its product portfolio.

The acquisition, for an undisclosed sum, will see the Vet Pet customer base merge with Healthy Pets' base from 1 February 2002.

Healthy Pets said the groups shared a common underwriter at Lloyd's, which would maintain continuity.

Vet Pets is the pet insurance division of insurance broker The Davis Group. Davis will now divest itself of its pet insurance account to focus on core activities.

Healthy Pets is an independent pet insurance intermediary underwritten entirely through Lloyd's.
