Small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) face particular challenges in creating healthier workplaces, PruHealth chief executive Catherine McGrath has said.
McGrath said she agreed that the workplace impacted upon employee's health as stipulated in the government's White Paper.
But she warned the proposed healthy business assessment would have financial implications for SMEs.
“There are cost and administrative barriers for small and medium sized businesses in creating a healthy work environment,” she said.
“This is very significant since, according to the DTI, SMEs employ almost 60% of British workers.”
